Youth Report 2025
The Youth Report 2025 explores, among other things, how digital spaces are creating new opportunities to experience and shape youth cultures. Platforms like Discord, TikTok and YouTube provide young people with a stage to express themselves, experiment, and develop their identity. These spaces are fostering creative networks that connect/combine diverse interests and forms of expressions.
Self-Expression and Creative Development
Digital tools and apps offer new, accessible ways to be creative. Producing music, designing images, shooting videos, or designing fashion – all of this is now possible with just a few clicks and without expensive equipment. From AI-powered avatars to interactive collaboration between humans and machines, digital technologies are unlocking new creative spaces.
“There I can put the biggest exhaust pipe on the car […]. I can realise features like paintwork and foiling in the virtual world and then I know: OK, my creativity looks awesome and it has potential.” – Fabien, aged 18

Networking in the scene: access to global communities
Digital platforms make it easier to connect with others who share similar interests, whether in gaming communities, the beatbox scene or fan communities. Young people can engage with peers worldwide and become part of communities that transcend geographical or cultural boundaries.
“Stories about a series or films that are made up. For example, by simply changing the gender, the character. Or if you just turn a boy into a girl, that’s sometimes a completely different story.” – Emily, aged 20
